Jikuya Sake Brewery
"Shochu can make you more beautiful."
Mount Shibi is a sacred mountain that is the symbol of northern Satsuma. Jikuya Sake Brewery has been making sake since 1912, using the cool, clear water that springs from the mountain's peak as its brewing water.
Although this brewery has a history spanning over 100 years, it is by no means old-fashioned. The reason for this is that it is led by a female brewer, a rarity in the shochu industry. She blends the delicacy and elegance that only a woman can bring to the world of sweet potato shochu, which has a strong masculine image. While adhering to the traditional earthenware jar brewing method, she is also producing a succession of innovative products, such as the "Rin" series, which has a perfume-like fragrance.
From the robust "Shiono Tsuyu" that continues to be loved locally, to the stylish "Jikuya" and the elegant "Rin." The taste, which combines strength and gentleness, tradition and modernity, gently relaxes the hearts of all drinkers, from shochu beginners to hardcore fans.
